Nicholas “Nico” Marlet is a French-American animation artist and character designer. He is best known for his character design work in theDreamworks films Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon, although early in his career he worked on Disney television shows such asTaleSpin and DuckTales.
What I like about Nico’s studies is how he sketches out lots of different facial expressions and illustrates them with perfect detail without losing the character’s essence and personality. It’s very important for a character designer to draw the character in a way that the audience can regognise that it’s the same one, without losing of its original look and personality.
